Pumas Add Uncapped Flanker to Roster for Nations Championship

Los Pumas will be without star flanker Marcos Kremer in their opening game of the Nations Championship. Argentina’s coaching staff have released Kremer who is set to become a father. This sees an opportunity for Los Tarucas’ Agustín Sarelli.

The uncapped Agustín Sarelli is 22-years-old. He has earned the call-up by Felipe Contepomi following a strong showing in the Super Rugby Americas (SRA) 2026 season for Los Tarucas. Sarelli joins the roster in Córdoba a week out from the Nations Championship first-round match against Scotland.

Contepomi’s roster sees the back-row stocks of Santiago Grondona, Pablo Matera, Joaquín Moro, Joaquín Oviedo in addition to the uncapped Juan Penoucos from Pampas in SRA and now Agustín Sarelli.

The decision to include Penoucos and Sarelli is of note given the caliber of players not selected. None of the quartet of Rodrigo Bruni, Francisco Gorissen, Facundo Isa, and Bautista Pedemonte are on the roster.

Kremer will return to the roster during July. His involvement against Wales and England remains unconfirmed, but expected.
