The All-Time Most Capped Pumas Prop Retires

The all-time most capped Pumas prop has now retired from professional rugby. Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro has called it a day at the age of 36. The product of Camarones Rugby Club de Pinamar and Biguá Rugby Club steps away from the elite level of rugby after a colorful career.

Tetaz Chaparro did it all as an elite professional. He played in the United Rugby Championship (URC) for the Dragons and Benetton, in the English Premiership for the Bristol Bears, in the Top 14 for Stade Français and Lyon and in Super Rugby for Los Jaguares.

His final match as a professional was on Saturday for Benetton. The Italian side competed in the 18th round of the 2025-2026 URC season against the Bulls in Pretoria, South Africa. The match brought to a close the regular season for Benetton who will not be involved in the URC play-off’s.

Tetaz Chaparro was a professional rugby player for more than fifteen years. It provided him with the opportunity of representing his country and doing so more than any other player in his position. Moreover, Tetaz Chaparro played at both loose head prop and tight head prop for Los Pumas.

Tetaz Chaparro and Ramiro Herrera were used as the tight head props at Rugby World Cup 2015 while 2019 saw Tetaz Chaparro starting at loose head prop. Injury ended his participation at Rugby World Cup 2023 during the lead-up to the tournament.

His time playing for Los Pumas included a total of 81 test matches. His final cap was nothing short of a dream come true as Argentina defeated New Zealand in Buenos Aires in the 2025 Rugby Championship.
