Brazil Name Former Men’s Player as New Women’s Head Coach

Guilherme Coghetto is the new head coach of As Yaras. The former capped Brazilian international takes over the top position of Brazil’s Women’s rugby a month out from Brazil returning to international duty. As Yaras take-on Colombia in São Paulo on May 30.

The appointment sees an experienced former Brazilian Men’s representative now in charge of Brazil’s Women. It comes seven months after Brazil’s first taste of competing at a Rugby World Cup. Brazil’s debut RWC tournament was at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England.

Coghetto played for Brazil from 2013-2023. He takes-up the role as head coach of As Yaras after having previously coaches As Yaras backs during the previous Rugby World Cup cycle. Additional experience have seen Coghetto working as assistant coach of As Yaras 7’s on the world circuit over the past two years and as an assistant coach of Os Cobras in Super Rugby Americas.
