Julián Montoya Captains Leicester Tigers into English Premiership Final

Julián Montoya captained the Leicester Tigers to victory on Saturday. It was not any old match; rather, it was a Semi Final in the English Premiership. The Leicester Tigers were 21-16 winners over the Sale Sharks and Montoya was named the Man of the Match.

It was a home Semi Final for the Leicester Tigers. Played at Welford Road, the Leicester Tigers rewarded their loyal supporters with a send-off. Now all eyes are set on Twickenham Stadium as the Leicester Tigers take on Bath in the Final next weekend.

It means a new champion will be crowned this year. The Northampton Saints are the defending champions but will not participate in the 2025 English Premiership Final. The Northampton Saints finished the regular season in a lowly position of 8th. It happened with the team juggling the Premiership and the European Champions Cup. The Northampton Saints reached the final only to lose to Bordeaux.

The Leicester Tigers are the most successful club in the history of English rugby. The club holds the record for most English Premiership titles with eleven. The most recent title was in 2022 when Julián Montoya and Matías Moroni started in the 15-12 win over Saracens. Montoya is now 80 minutes away from further glory and this time with the captain’s arm band.
