World Rugby has officially shortlisted three players for the Sevens Men’s Player of the Year award. Two of the three are Argentines. The SVNS Awards 2025 will be presented on Sunday, 4 May in Los Angeles.
28-year-old Luciano Gonzalez was the leading ball-carrier this season. The Argentine made 137 carries in total. He also stood out with linebreaks; he was third this season. The season also saw him lifting his career record past the mark of 150 tries. He also came in His 150th try came at the 2025 Vancouver 7’s. He contributed more offloads, tackles, and steals than all other Argentine players and was named Player of the Final in three of his last nine SVNS tournaments.

25-year-old Marcos Moneta scored 23 tries to be the top try-scorer this season. He scored a personal haul of 117 points for the season. This included his tries and eight conversions. Moneta is famous for his pace and acceleration. He adds a dimension to Argentina’s attack.

32-year-old Pol Pla helped Los Leones 7’s to a podium finish this season. The 2024-2025 campaign is Spains best ever. Pol Pla also had an excellent season; He became Spain’s first ever player to reach the mark of 100 career tries on the World Rugby SVNS circuit. World Rugby deemed his speed, consistency, and leadership as Captain as being fundamentals to Los Leones’ campaign.
