The first try saw the South Americans over for a fantastic score featuring high-speed play and execution. Daniel Caetano went over with Tobías Duret providing the assist.
Romania hit-back swiftly and sharply with back-to-back tries. Center Alexandru Boldor and fullback Edward Brășnean each scored to give Romania the lead. However, the first-half ended with Brazil leading 16-15 after a maul try scored by hooker Túlio Oliveira.
The Romanians regained the lead with a flashy try to Dragoș Tatomir. Then, late in the third quarter, Túlio Oliveira scored a second try, this time doing so from a pick-and-go.
