Tarucas Run Riot Against Yacare to Remain Alive in SRA 2026

With three of the four Semi Finals’ slots taken, Los Tarucas needed to win their match against Yacare with a bonus point on Saturday. Los Tucumanos succeeded in doing so as they ran riot against Yacare. The 43-14 victory sees Los Tarucas drawling level with Selknam in the SRA 2026 standings.

With two rounds of the regular season remaining, Los Tarucas and Selknam are tied for 4th place on 34 points while reigning champions, Peñarol remain in the hunt on 27 points. A host of scenarios remain as the South American professional rugby competition is going down to the wire in 2026.

Santiago Heredia led the way for Los Tarucas; the flanker scored a hat-trick. N8, Thiago Sbrocco was also impressive as he scored two tries for the home side. However, it was not about individuals; rather, the match was won by the team that was in control throughout the duration of the contest.

Los Tarucas had the bonus point secured and the win wrapped up early on. Heredia scored the opening try with Sbrocco crossing for a double as Los Tarucas ran in three tries in a five minute period from the 9th to 14th minutes. Then on 24 minutes, the fourth try came with scrum-half Santiago Saleme scoring.

The four first half tries came without response. Yacare managed two second half tries compared to three from Los Tarucas. Gonzalo del Pazo scored early on in the half with Joaquín Domínguez Herrera scoring six minutes from full-time.

The second-half did not start with a Yacare try, though; rather, it was Los Tarucas starting strongly with Tomás Vanni scoring. His score came on 41 minutes and it took another 30 minutes before another Tarucas try was scored. Heredia crossed for two late tries with them coming either side of Domínguez Herrera scoring.
