Leonel Oviedo Scores first Super Rugby Try

Argentine hooker Leonel Oviedo scored his first try for the Western Force. The Western Australian team were big winners over Moana Pasifika in Friday in New Zealand. The 35-19 victory was the Western Force’s first Super Rugby win in New Zealand since 2022.

The Argentine forward crossed from a maul on 70 minutes. The score made it a 35-7 lead to the Western Australians. To their credit, Moana Pasifika hit-back with a late double.

Oviedo was one of three Argentines involved in the Western Force’s victory over Moana Pasifika. The others were second-rower Franco Molina and scrum-half Agustín Moyano. Molina started the match which Moyano, like Oviedo, featured as a replacement.

The 28-year-old Leonel Oviedo is uncapped but has been on Argentine rosters. He is the older brother of N8 Joaquín Oviedo who has 22 caps for Los Pumas.
