Argentina Win Gold at Junior Pan American Games

Los Pumas 7’s claimed Gold on Sunday at the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay. Argentina won the final 22-17 against Uruguay, doing so after having been 17-0 down. The title sees Argentina qualifying for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

Argentina went unbeaten in Asunción. Los Pumas 7’s overcame Bermuda 51-7, Trinidad & Tobago 56-0 and Paraguay 28-5. The elimination rounds on Sunday saw Argentina defeating Chile 26-5 in the Semi Finals and securing Gold with the 22-17 win over Uruguay in the Final.

Argentina’s Women’s team, Las Yaguaretés missed out on a podium finish. They defeated Colombia 14-7 and Jamaica 62-0 but fell 22-12 to Canada on Saturday. Day two saw Las Yaguaretés losing 19-12 to the USA at the Semi Finals stage. With a 24-0 loss against Canada in the Bronze Final, Argentina’s Women finished fourth at the Junior Pan American Games.
