Brazil Complete Record-Breaking win over Colombia

As Yaras preparation for the first-ever Rugby World Cup tournament went very well on Saturday. Brazil were 58-7 winners over Colombia in São Paulo. The margin was record-breaking by not only Brazil against Colombia but also against any opponent.

England will play host to the Women’s Rugby World Cup in August and September. It will be the first to feature a South American competitor and will see Brazil’s Women’s team joining the Men’s teams from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay in competing on the biggest stage of the sport of rugby.

Played at the Estádio Nicolau Alayon in São Paulo, Brazil improved on their 34-13 win over Colombia in 2024. The result that day meant Brazil qualified for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Saturday’s win marked As Yaras’ first win over a South American opponent in Brazil. The Brazilians dominated the contest from start to finish. With 15 minutes on the game-clock, Brazil held a 15-0 lead. Brazil’s superiority at the break-down was fundamental in giving them the upper hand.

As Yaras converted a 39-0 half-time lead into a 58-7 win. Giovanna Barth, Isadora Lopes, and Camilla Ísis Carvalho all impressed bu crossing for two tries each.

Brazil will play again on July 12. As Yaras will take-on the Netherlands in their penultimate match before their Rugby World Cup debut.
