Benjamín Urdapilleta has broken the all-time point scoring record in the Top 14. In scoring fourteen points for Clermont against Stade Français on Saturday, the Argentine overtook the record held by Australian Brock James.
Urdapilleta has scored 2491 points in his career playing in the French Top 14. It makes him the second-highest point scorer ever in France. When factoring in the modification from the Top 16 to the Top 14, the top point scorer is Romain Teulet with 2612 points.
Now Urdapilleta only needs to score nine points to reach the mark of 2500 points. The former Puma arrived in France in 2012. He signed for Oyonnax from Harlequins in the English Premiership. The move saw him helping the team earn promotion from the Pro D2 to the Top 14 for the first-time.

After two seasons with Oyonnax, Urdapilleta signed for Castres. He played for Castres for eight years, scoring 1797 points for the club and winning the Top 14 title in 2018. Urdapilleta won the Top 14 with uruguayan Rodrigo Capó Ortega captaining the side to glory.

Urdapilleta moved on from Castres in 2023. He signed with his current club, Clermont. He continues to play at the age of 39; albeit, he will retire at the end of the season. He is expected to return to Buenos Aires to play for CUBA.
The veteran has 19 test caps to his name for Argentina. The number could have been a lot higher had the UAR not had strict selection policies during the Los Jaguares era in Super Rugby. Urdapilleta’s form did, nonetheless, see him called-up for test duty in 2019 and he went on to start matches at Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan.
