Dignity Health Sports Park will host the grand finale of the 2024-25 World Sevens Series, also known as the HSBC SVNS. The Los Angeles venue has been a fixture on the circuit since replacing Las Vegas as the preferred USA destination in 2020. It will also host rugby events at the 2028 Olympic Games.
This year’s series features seven tournaments, down one from last season. It’s the lowest number of tournaments on the circuit in two decades, with the exception of the pandemic-affected years of 2020 and 2021. Also notable is the complete absence of any European destinations with last year’s championship host city of Madrid absent entirely.
North America will have two stops on this year’s circuit, with Vancouver hosting the only event scheduled for February. Dubai will host the series opener starting on November 1, followed by Cape Town in December. Perth in January, Hong Kong in March, and Singapore in April. The LA tournament takes place in early May.
Representing the Americas on this year’s women’s circuit are Canada, the USA, and Brazil. Argentina, Uruguay, and the USA are among this year’s core men’s teams. Canada’s men were relegated at the end of last season and will instead compete on the second-tier Challenger Series.
Also confirmed are the match official panels for both tiers of competition. Named to the senior circuit are Uruguay’s Francisco González and the USA’s Kat Roche. Gonzalo de Achaval from Argentina is part of the Challenger Series panel, along with Emma Gallagher and Kristine Lovatt from Canada.
