Uruguay Qualify for World Rugby U20 Trophy 2024

Uruguay successfully qualified for the 2024 World Rugby U20 Trophy. Los Teritos did so by overcoming Chile in the South American u19 Championship in Santa Fé, Argentina. Uruguay were 45-17 winners over the Chileans in the first fixture of the tournament.

The team coached by Oscar Durán is safe in the next edition of the World Rugby U20 Trophy. Los Teritos impressed in the 2023 edition of the tournament, finishing second. Played in Nairobi, Kenya, Uruguay opened with a 33-31 win over the USA before beating Zimbabwe 51-14 and recording an impressive 37-26 win over Tier 1 side Scotland.

Los Teritos reached the 2023 World Rugby U20 Trophy Final. The South Americans battled it out against Spain, losing 39-32 in the final. Having secured their spot in the 2024 tournament, Los Teritos will be looking to repeat or surpass their 2023 performances.

Uruguay now await Argentina in the final match of the 2024 South American u19 tournament. Before then, Chile face Los Pumitas.
