Cobras lose veterans Adrio de Melo and Robert Tenório to suspension

Os Cobras have suffered a double blow. Veteran players Adrio de Melo and Robert Tenório have both been suspended. Both men were red carded in Sunday’s Super Rugby Americas match between Os Cobras and Los Pampas in São Paulo.

The actions of both players saw them sent-off following checking from the TMO. The judicial process subsequently concluded that the red cards were correct and additional punishment has since been handed out.

The judiciary sanctioned Adrio de Melo for three further matches. The flanker will not be available for Os Cobras in fixtures against Los Dogos on February 26, against Yacare on Match 05 and against Peñarol on March 11. All three matches are home games.

Robert Tenório received a more lenient suspension. The mid-fielder will miss the February 26 match against Los Dogos. Both de Melo and Tenório are vastly experienced for Brazil. They are senior members of Os Cobras‘ roster and de Melo is vice-captain.

With both men out of action, the line-up to face Los Dogos in São Paulo on Sunday is guaranteed to have at least two changes from that which started against Los Pampas.
