Jamaica fall to Gibraltar

Jamaica took on Gibraltar in an international match on Saturday. Played at Billesley Common in Birmingham, England, the fixture had a neutral setting for what was the second fixture between the teams in three years.

The previous battle between Gibraltar and Jamaica took place on January 05, 2022. On that day Gibraltar were 17-15 winners at Europa Point.

Gibraltar’s narrow win in 2020 looked like it made be repeated again. There was just one point between the teams at the midway stage of their match in Birmingham. Gibraltar went into half-time with a 14-13 lead.

A strong second-half showing from the Europeans saw them going on to complete a well-earned 36-18 victory. Jamaica will be looking for revenge in a future match-up between the sides.

Caribbean test match rugby is not yet over for 2022. The Cayman Islands will play host to Mexico at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex on December 10. The fixture is the second of two between the teams. The first was played in Mexico City in 2021.
