November Internationals 2022 – Brazil vs Colombia – ARN Guide

Brazil play host to Colombia on Saturday. The match is the first ever capped Women’s test match in the largest South American country. It comes after a lengthily period of international competition between Brazil and Colombia in Rugby 7’s.

The history of Women’s Rugby in both Brazil and Colombia is relatively short. The first of the two to have a Women’s test side is Brazil. It was born in 2008 with the first match being against the Netherlands. The Europeans were 10-0 winners on that day.

Saturday’s match will be the third between Brazil and Colombia. It will be played at the Estádio Nogueirão in Mogi das Cruzes, Greater São Paulo. Admission is free of charge. Those attending are asked to donate 1 Kg of non-perishable food (excluding sugar and salt).

The two previous matches between Brazil and Colombia were both played in Medellín, Colombia. Las Tucanes won the matches by scorelines of 28-7 and 23-19.

Changes to the Women’s Rugby World Cup bring great signifiance to both teams. South American will have a direct qualifying spot for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. This is unlike prior competitions. Colombia reached the repechage finals for the 2022 Women’s Rugby World Cup, losing to Scotland.
