Old Glory re-signs Canadian back row Luke Campbell

Old Glory DC have re-signed Canadian international Luke Campbell for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 30-year-old loose forward returns for a third year in the nation’s capital, having previously played with the Toronto Arrows in 2019.

Campbell set MLR career highs with 12 appearances and 11 starts this past season. He was primarily used in the No8 shirt in the absence of the suspended Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz, but also played three games at blindside flanker.

The RWC 2019 select follows fellow Canuck Doug Fraser in extending for DC. It’s not yet clear if Jake Ilnicki will be returning, though another prop Cali Martinez was selected in the Collegiate Draft. Flyhalf Gradyn Bowd is set to arrive for 2023. Campbell will travel to Amsterdam with the Canadian team next week.
