Old Glory acquires Free Jacks prop Quentin Newcomer

Old Glory DC have acquired Quentin Newcomer from the New England Free Jacks in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2023 Collegiate Draft and salary cap considerations. The 26-year-old prop moves back to his home town with Fairfax, Virginia, part of the Washington metropolitan area.

Newcomer joined the Free Jacks in the spring of 2019 and featured in their exhibition campaign prior to their entry into Major League Rugby the following year. In three seasons he was a regular in match day squads, playing 24 games for the club though injuries limited him to just 6 appearances in 2022.

Initially a tighthead prop, Newcomer played exclusively at loosehead this past season and is a well-regarded scrummager at either position. He joins loosehead specialist Jack Iscaro on DC’s senior squad. Cali Martinez, DC’s top pick in the Collegiate Draft, can also play both sides of the scrum while 2nd round pick Alex Balladares is a loosehead.
