NOLA signs former Lindenwood flyhalf Reece Botha

NOLA have confirmed the signing of Reece Botha for the 2023 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old South African is currently playing with the Gold Academy side in the American Rugby Premiership, having previously lined up for Lindenwood University.

Originally from Johannesburg, Botha arrived at Lindenwood in 2019 on a rugby scholarship after playing with the Golden Lions in the Craven Week age grade competition. He was noted for his long-range kicking prowess, both from hand and off the tee.

Botha is a formidable figure who stands 6’3″ (1.91m) and weighs 210lbs (96kg), who is also capable of playing inside center. He is the fifth new acquisition for the Gold during the off-season, in addition to four Collegiate Draft picks. Also among the newcomers is former Brumbies flyhalf Rodney Iona.
