Canada game against All Blacks XV officially scrapped

Canada will not be playing against the All Blacks XV on October 29. New Zealand’s second-choice side was to travel to North America as part of their end-of-year tour, but have now confirmed games against Ireland ‘A’ and the Barbarians in November.

A release from New Zealand Rugby makes no mention of the Canada match at all, despite confirming the fixture in late June. ARN understands that inquiries were made about a potential neutral-venue clash between the All Blacks XV and an Argentina XV but that will also not come to fruition.

There have been no formal announcements for Canada’s opponents in the upcoming test window. A post indicating the Netherlands would host the Canadians in Amsterdam on November 12 has since been altered on the Rugby Nederland website. Namibia have also been rumored as a potential opponent at a neutral venue in Europe. Canada ‘A’ will travel to Brazil in late October.
