Santiago Arata on fire for Castres in Top 14

Santiago Arata is on fire for Castres in France. The Uruguayan scrum-half has been named as the team’s best player in each of the three matches thus far in the 2022-2023 Top 14 season.

Arata was named by Castres as the Olympien du Match for his performances in round one against Racing 92 on September 03, round two against Stade Français on September 10 and round three against Bordeaux on September 17.

The 26-year-old has been organizing play well for Castres. His passing, kicking, running and defense have all been impressive. ARN considers Arata as being the leading Americas scrum-half.

Castres will be looking for more such performances from the Uruguayan. Arata has been a standout for a team that is yet to play to the standards that saw it reach last season’s Top 14 Final. After three rounds Castres sit in 12th in the standings above Bayonne and Perpignan.

Meanwhile, the performances of Arata are precisely what RWC 2023 organizers are wanting. Arata is likely to be front-and-center on Uruguay’s RWC 2023 publicity around the country. Uruguay will play against France in Lille, against Italy in Lyon and against Namibia and New Zealand in Lyon.

Los Teros will be based in Avignon at Rugby World Cup 2023. The Americas 1 qualifier will be based in the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur region. The city is relatively close to Nice and Lyon.
