Chileans Iñaki & Ramón Ayarza and Charente win promotion to Pro D2

Charente have won promotion back to the Pro D2. The French club won promotion by defeating Valence Romans 21-18 on Sunday. The win included Chilean internationals Iñaki Ayarza and Ramón Ayarza. Both players are capped by Los Cóndores.

Winger, Iñaki Ayarza provided the key play at the key moment. He made a break down the left and off-loaded to Kema Raivono who scored in the left corner. Ramón Ayarza played at prop.

Charente had been relegated last season from the Pro D2 to the Nationale. The team will now set-about building for the 2022-2023 Pro D2 season. This will involve new player recruitment. Before the Ayarza’s feature again for the club they will play for Chile.

Los Cóndores face the USA in a home-and-away series in July. The series follows a non-capped match between Chile and Scotland XV. The Selknam roster will be the basis for the roster. Additional players based in the USA, France and Spain will be included.
