Final Men’s Rosters for Málaga Sevens

The World Sevens Series resumes in Málaga on Friday despite the specter of the pandemic in the backdrop. New Zealand, Samoa, and Fiji have all dropped out of the tournament though a window has been left open for the latter to possibly resume on Day Two.

There are significant changes to all of the Americas teams. The USA bid farewell to Martin Iosefo and Matai Leuta, who move to Major League Rugby. Canada has changed half of their side, and Los Pumas will be without Covid-stricken captain Santiago Álvarez and former skipper Gastón Revol.

Jamaica have answered the call to join the series, having last participated in Edmonton. They too show significant changes to the roster. Germany has also been summoned, while the Great Britain team has been dissolved with England, Scotland, and Wales returning.

There is a notable addition to Ireland’s team in the form of Timolore Awonusi. The 6’7″ (2.00m) flyer is a student at Trinity Western University in Canada and played for the Spartans in the Coastal Cup.

Live broadcasts will be available on the CBC Sports website in Canada, Peacock TV in the USA, ESPN in South America, and on the World Rugby website for those located abroad.

A full fixture list can be seen here.
