Romania vs Uruguay moved from Bucharest to Italy

The upcoming test match between Romania and Uruguay has been moved from Bucharest to Italy. The Oaks vs Teros fixture is the first of three matches for the Uruguayans in November. With the move to Verona, all three of Uruguay’s November Internationals will take place in Italy.

Los Teros will play three three matches in Northern Italy. The first will be against Romania in Verona on November 07. It will be followed by a non-capped match on November 13 against Italy ‘A’ in Padua. The third match will be in Parma on November 14. It is to be a test match and a preview of the RWC 2023 encounter between Italy and Uruguay.

The RWC 2023 match will be the first World Cup fixture beween Italy and Uruguay. The pool also contains France and New Zealand; Los Teros has never played against either team in a test match. The remaining place will go to Africa 1, potentially Namibia who hosted Uruguay for a two-match tour in 2017.

The only previous meeting between Uruguay and Italy was in 2007, with the visitors winning 29-5 at Parque Central in Montevideo. More recently Los Teros defeated Emerging Italy 23-19 in the 2018 Nations Cup, also played in Montevideo but at the Carrasco Polo club.

Uruguay defeated Romania for the first time in November 2018. The 27-20 victory was a significant step in Los Teros’ progression from RWC 2015 to RWC 2019.
