Uruguay roster packed with youth for Americas Pacific Challenge

Uruguay has named a roster packed of youth for the Americas Pacific Challenge (APC). The 29-man roster has no shortage of recent u20’s players while, at the same time, also contains names from the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR).

The ARC falls in between Uruguay’s RWC 2023 qualifiers and the November Internationals. Having gotten the job done, Los Teros will officially travel to Europe in their first stage of preparations for France 2023.

The roster for the ARC is very different to that from the RWC qualifiers. It is made up of u23 players. Among them are full-capped players including Felipe Arcos Pérez, Juanjuan Garese, and Felipe Aliaga. The trio all played for Peñarol in the 2021 SLAR. So too did Mateo Perillo, Ignacio Péculo, Lucas Bianchi, Carlos Deus, Ignacio Álvarez, Mateo Viñals, and Baltazar Amaya.

Peñarol is not the only SLAR team represented on Uruguay’s ARC roster. Also included is Tomás Etcheverry who played for Los Cafeteros Pro.

Uruguay will play as Uruguay ‘A’. Their three matches are to be against Brazil ‘A’, Chile ‘A’ and the Argentina XV. All matches will take place at the Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo.
