Seawolves sign international backs Tuilevuka and Leitner

The Seattle Seawolves have confirmed the addition of two internationals to their backs division for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Once-capped Eagles center Seta Tuilevuka and Canada ‘A’ winger Karsten Leitner have joined up with the team as they prepare for their next match against the Utah Warriors on April 10.

At 39 years old Tuilevuka is now the oldest player registered in the league this season. Originally from Fiji, he qualified for the USA on residency before signing with Top 14 side Montpellier in 2010. He has spent the past decade playing in France with Béziers in the Pro D2, La Voulte in Fédérale 1, and Fédérale 2 sides Bort-les-Orgues and CO Creusot. Older brother Pate Tuilevuka is also a former Eagle and now Director of Rugby for Seattle Rugby Club.

Leitner, 25, has recovered from a long-term Achilles injury to sign his first professional deal. He was set to join Rugby ATL in 2020 but did not ultimately do so before the season was cancelled. The Vancouver native has played for both UBC and UVic at collegiate level and has represented Canada at u20 and Senior ‘A’ level in XVs, while appearing in four stops on the 2016-17 World Sevens Series.
