MLR 2021 – Most Capped XV

Who is the most capped player in the 2021 Major League Rugby (MLR)? How many caps does he have? Is he a USA Eagles player? These and other questions will be answered below.

The 2021 MLR season will feature twelve teams. Every team has players that have competed in Rugby World Cups (RWCs). In addition, all four countries from the Americas that have participated in RWCs have players that feature among the most capped MLR players per team.

The 2021 MLR season will feature players with more than 100 caps in MLR; Wallabies Adam Ashley-Cooper and Matt Giteau both featured in the RWC 2015 Final. The Australian duo will reunite this season for LA Giltinis. Their combined total of 224 test caps for Australia will set a MLR record that may last for a very long time. Their teammate, DTH van der Merwe has 61 caps to his name for Canada. The trio all make the MLR 2021 – Most Capped XV.

DTH van der Merwe is the second most capped Canadian in MLR 2021. He has twelve fewer caps than Ciaran Hearn. Both players featured in numerous RWCs for Canada and have impressive resume’s from their time playing in Europe.

The most capped USA player is Cam Dolan. The USA Eagles N8 has 51 test caps. This is more than all other active players. He is two caps behind Paul Emerick and Dave Hodges, both of whom earned 53 caps for the USA. Moreover, with nine further caps, Dolan will become just the fourth Eagle to reach 60 caps.

The most capped player from the Americas is from South America. Diego Magno (93 caps) is the most capped player of all-time from the Americas. Fellow Uruguayan Leandro Leivas (77 caps) is the second most capped Americas player in MLR. Gastón Mieres matches Hearn with 73 caps. The most capped Argentine player also plays for the Toronto Arrows; Joaquín Tuculet has 56 caps for Argentina. Brazil’s Wilton Rebolo (28 caps) is the most capped hooker in the MLR while Nikola Bursic (30 caps) is Chile’s most capped MLR player.

The MLR 2021 Most Capped player XV features players from ten countries. They are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, Japan, New Zealand, Samoa, Uruguay, and the USA. Uruguay is the largest contributor with four players in the most capped XV.
