Utah contract for ex-Seahawks signing Logan Tago

The Utah Warriors have handed a senior Major League Rugby contract to a second member of the development squad. Logan Tago follows Joseph Mano from the Selects group, adding a formidable physical presence to the backline for the fast-approaching 2021 season.

Tago, 23, hails from American Samoa and played four years of college football as a defensive end for Washington State beginning in 2015. The 6’3″ (1.91m) specimen was signed by the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and played one preseason match but did not make the regular season roster. In 2020 he was signed by the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes but the season was then cancelled entirely due to COVID-19.

During Utah’s fall exhibition series Tago played on the wing but now looks to be moving to center. Already under contract in the Warriors midfield are specialists Tyler Fisher, Dom Toluono, and Calvin Whiting. Other options include Samoa international Rodney Iona and the Whippy twins – Josh and Jared.
