Ex-NFLer Joey Iosefa re-signs with Seattle Seawolves

Former NFL running back Joey Iosefa has re-signed with the Seattle Seawolves for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 250-pound (114kg) center can now add international to his CV having represented his native American Samoa at the Oceania Olympic Qualifier event hosted by Fiji in 2019.

Iosefa, 29, left the New England Patriots in the fall of 2016 and signed for the Houston SaberCats in the spring of 2018, scoring a try on debut against Austin. He then moved to the Seawolves in 2019 and has played six games in all for the club, including four replacement appearances in 2020.

Seattle now have a well-stocked midfield with Iosefa joining fellow returnees George Barton and Ross Neal, new signing Juan Pablo Aguirre, and draft picks Aaron Matthews and Nick Taylor. The Seawolves have not yet confirmed whether former skipper Shalom Suniula will continue for a fourth season.
