Major League Rugby releases 2021 schedule

The fourth season of Major League Rugby will begin on March 20th. A complete schedule has now been released by the North American professional competition. It features an 18-week regular season followed by two rounds of playoffs with the champion to be determined on August 1.

NOLA Gold has been given the honor of hosting the season opener, with Old Glory DC traveling to New Orleans. On the same day the two expansion sides will open their MLR accounts against each other with the Dallas Jackals taking on the LA Giltinis at the Memorial Coliseum.

The Toronto Arrows have drawn the opening week bye, leaving them with a difficult challenge of playing 16 games in 17 weeks. This season, however, will see the Arrows playing their first home game in Round 4 on April 10 rather than being forced to engage in a drawn-out road trip to start the campaign.

It’s the Seattle Seawolves, surprisingly, who have the longest road swing with a whopping five games before they are able to return to Starfire Stadium on May 2. Rugby United New York are the only other team with a road trip stretching beyond two games, with their first home game in Round 5 after three away games.

Further talking points can be seen in a previous post here. The full 2021 schedule is now posted on the MLR 2021 competition page.
