Bryce Campbell leaves Irish, set for MLR return

London Irish have confirmed that Bryce Campbell has left the English Premiership club with his contract coming to an end. The powerful Eagles midfielder is now stateside and looks set for a return to Major League Rugby for the 2021 season.

Campbell, 25, signed from the Glendale Raptors in May of 2018. During his two seasons abroad he helped the Exiles win promotion from the Championship in the 2018-19 season. This past year he was limited to just six appearances for the club before the COVID-19 suspension.

Since making his test debut against Romania in 2016, Campbell has racked up 32 caps for the USA. He appeared in all four matches for the Eagles at Rugby World Cup 2019, starting three, and scoring one try in their opening match against England.

With the Raptors no longer in MLR it remains to be seen were Campbell might land. There will be no shortage of suitors for one of the USA’s most consistent performers over the past three years. The closest teams to his home state of Indiana are Old Glory DC and Rugby ATL.
