Colombia Advance in Rugby World Cup 2021 Qualifiers

With a win over Brazil, Colombia have advanced in the Rugby World Cup 2021 Qualifiers. Las Tucanes were 23-19 winners in Saturday’s match played in Medellín, Colombia.

Las Tucanes dominated early, yet a comeback from Brazil saw the match go down to the wire. Colombia had been leading 20-7 before As Yaras mounted their comeback. The full-time whistle saw the Colombians jumping for joy.

The match was the first qualifying fixture for the RWC 2021 tournament. It was a one-off-match, meaning that there will be no return fixture. Colombia’s win thereby sees them advancing to the next round while Brazil are now eliminated.

Colombia will now face Kenya in a RWC repechage fixture. The winner of Kenya vs Colombia fixture will join one team from each of Europe, Oceania and Asia in the repechage tournament.
