Capó Ortega scores in comeback

Rodrigo Capó Ortega scored in his comeback match from injury. The Uruguayan touched down in the 24th minute in Castres away match today against Bordeaux.

The second-rower played 46 minutes before being substituted for Victor Moreaux. He was joined in the side by fellow Rio e la Plata player, Benjamín Urdapilleta. The Argentine fly half scored a first half conversion. He joined his captain in being substituted in the 46th minute.

Bordeaux were 26-24 winners. The result further extends the club’s lead in the Top 14. After 17 rounds Bordeaux have 61 points, eight more than the second placed Lyon. Castres are in a three way tie for 9th with Brive and Bayonne on 33 points.

The 39-year-old Capó Ortega is now into his final season at Castres. The current season is his 19th season with the club. This is a rare accomplishment and cements Capó Ortega as one of the all-time greats in the French Top 14.

Capó Ortega captained Castres today against Bordeaux. He has vast experience as the team captain, including winning the Top 14 championship itself. With Castres, Capó Ortega won the Top 14 in 2013 and 2018.
