Olímpia Lions cruise to win in pre-season fixture

Paraguay’s first professional rugby team, the Olímpia Lions cruised to an 86-0 victory today over Aguará. The match was a professional team vs an amateur club and it was also an international fixture as the Paraguayan side played against an Argentine club.

The match was played an San José Rugby Club and saw the birth of Paraguayan professional rugby. The convincing victory underlined just how far the Olímpia Lions have come since their creation in late 2019.

The Olímpia Lions will make their official professional but in the inaugural season of the Súper Rugby Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Their first game will be on the road against Los Ceibos in Córdoba, Argentina. The match is to take place on March 06.
