Bermuda Host Guadeloupe in RAN Championship Final

Bermuda play host to Guadeloupe on Saturday in the 2019 RAN Championship Final. Taking place at the National Stadium in Bermuda the fixture will bring to a close the international activity in Americas Rugby North (RAN) for the year.

The match will kick-off at 3pm local (2pm eastern / 11am pacific), to be the fourth test match of the day. It will follow the RWC 2019 matches of Australia vs Fiji; Argentina vs France; and New Zealand vs South Africa.

The 2019 RAN Championship was a reduced tournament. This was due to the Cayman Islands not competing as they instead were involved in the Americas Rugby Challenge (ARCh) against Mexico, Paraguay and hosts Colombia.

This saw Bermuda vs Jamaica as the only other RAN Championship fixture of 2019. Played on Match 09 Bermuda ran out convincing 43-14 winners.

Guadeloupe earned the right to play against Bermuda in the RAN Championship Final by claiming a 19-5 upset win over Guyana. Not only was the result impressive but Guadeloupe was able to do so while just competing in RAN competition for the second year.

For 2020 there are to be changes to the RAN Championship and RAN Cup. This is likely to see fixtures doubling as qualifying games for RWC 2023 in France. For this reason only full World Rugby members will compete and thereby there is no promotion or relegation in RAN this year.
