Eagles trio in Biarritz Dream Team

Three Women’s Eagles have been named in the official HSBC Dream Team following the USA’s historic Cup Final victory in Biarritz on Sunday. Cheta Emba, Kristen Thomas, and Lauren Doyle earned their spots in the select side as voted by the commentary team.

Emba and Thomas formed a powerful ball-running duo in the forwards for the Eagles, with Thomas finishing in second overall at the tournament with 5 tries. That mark was equaled by co-captain Doyle, a standout in the USA backline who capped her tournament with a try in the Cup Final.

Finalists New Zealand had two players nominated – Ruby Tui in the forwards and Tyla Nathan-Wong, the tournament’s top points scorer. Lide Erbina was Spain’s outstanding player, while Australia’s Charlotte Caslick scored six tries, one of six players to finish tied for the tournament lead.

Bronze-winning Canada did not have a player selected with Bianca Farella’s co-lead for tries scored not enough to secure her place in the Dream Team.
