Carlin Isles named in Hong Kong Dream Team

Carlin Isles has been named in the official HSBC Dream Team for the Hong Kong Sevens. The Eagles flyer is the only Americas player included, earning his place after leading the tournament with an impressive haul of 9 tries in 6 games. He now holds a healthy 11-try lead over Alasio Naduva at the top of the overall season charts.

A hat-trick against Wales in the pool stage stood out but perhaps more impressive were the two highlight-reel finishes against South Africa in the Quarter Final. Isles would then add two more in the Semi Final against Fiji with a single against Samoa in the Bronze Final.

Samoa contributed two players to the Dream Team. Powerful prop Tofatu Solia got the call while Johnny Vaili’s towering restarts and long-striding gallops in the loose earned him a spot in the backs. Outstanding France forward Tavite Veredamu was a central figure behind their form, as was the creative Gabin Villiere.

Winning the tournament for the fifth consecutive time was Fiji. Despite their dominance only two of their men made the grade. Meli Derenalagi was the pick of their forwards, with playmaker extraordinaire Jerry Tuwai completing the select seven.
