Martinique Shut Out Curaçao

Martinique went 2-0 in the Rugby Americas North South Cup today with a dominant win over Curaçao. The 39-0 shutout comes one week after Martinique defeated Barbados in the opening fixture of the competition.

Like the opening round match against Barbados, today’s fixture was also played at the Stade Armand Ribier au Diamant Martinique. Martinique would again play very impressively, demonstrating improved defense.

Not only did Martinique shutout Curaçao but they also ran in seven tries. Of them two were converted, meaning that the scoreline could very easily have surpassed the total number of points scored against Barbados.

In their opening match against Barbados Martinique were 43-19 winners. It was the first of three fixtures in the 2019 RAN South Cup. For Martinique it was also their final match as the remaining RAN South Cup match will be that of Barbados vs Curaçao in April.

Also taking place in April will be the RAN North Cup. It is to also involve three competitors – the British Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic, and the Turks & Caicos Islands. The opening fixture will be the Turks & Caicos Islands at home to the Dominican Republic on April 13.
