Old Glory DC’s first signing is Josh Brown

Old Glory DC have announced the first ever player signing in the club’s history. Josh Brown has put pen to paper, the 31-year-old the first of many who will join the expansion franchise ahead of the 2020 Major League Rugby season. Old Glory is set to play their first exhibition match against the New England Free Jacks on June 15.

It’s with the Free Jacks that Brown was spotted playing for in December. The powerful No8 started in the friendly against Rugby United New York. Brown has also represented the Capital Selects on several occasions and has twice previously faced MLR competition, suiting up against the NOLA Gold and Houston SaberCats last spring.

A native of Columbia, Maryland, Brown plays his club rugby for Rocky Gorge while being employed as a first responder. One of his former teammates at both club and Selects level is current Seattle Seawolves flyhalf Ben Cima, a product of Gonzaga College who will surely be a recruiting target in the off-season.
