USA Falcons named for Sudamérica Sevens Series

USA Rugby has named 14 players to travel as part of the Falcons development side for the Sudamérica Sevens. The two-leg series includes stops in Punta Del Este, Uruguay, and Viña del Mar, Chile, in January.

Included are five full-time members of the Eagles Sevens residency program at Chula Vista – Naima Fuala’au, Sione Mahe, Cody Melphy, Faitala Talapusi, and Marcus Tupuola. UCLA’s Ben Broselle also trains with the group part-time. Melphy and Tupuola were part of the Senior Eagles squad that traveled to the first two stops of the 2018-19 HSBC Sevens Series in Dubai and Cape Town.

A dozen teams will compete in this year’s series. The South American nations represented are hosts Uruguay and Chile, as well as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, and Paraguay. Invitational sides include Canada, France, Germany, and Ireland with one further to be confirmed.
