New Orleans scoop up Cam Dolan

A surprise announcement from New Orleans on Wednesday confirmed that US Eagles star Cam Dolan will play for the Gold in the 2019 Major League Rugby season. Currently on a short-term deal with Nottingham in the RFU Championship, the 28-year-old Florida native has opted to move close to home rather than stay on in England. Dolan will join up with his new team following the November test series.

The 6’6″ (1.99m) forward has been playing lock for Nottingham and played both lock and No8 for the San Diego Legion in the 2018 season. It’s at the back of the scrum where Dolan is most comfortable and where he plays for the Eagles. He is expected to fill that role at NOLA with Chilean star Sebastián Kalm reportedly signing for another MLR side.

It’s the latest in a barrage of signings for the Gold in the off-season. Internationals Kane Thompson, Ignacio Dotti, Kyle Baillie, and Con Foley have already been unveiled with Southern Hemisphere pros Scott Gale and Tristan Blewett also locked in along with Collegiate All-Americans Matt Harmon, Kevin Sullivan, Malcolm May, and Nick Feakes.
