Moyano back in Pumas roster to close out Rugby Championship

Ramiro Moyano is back in the Pumas roster to close out the Rugby Championship. Having started on the left wing in rounds 1 to 4 the Tucumán speedster missed out on the round 5 match with a fractured rib.

Moyano’s absence saw a reconfiguration of the backline against New Zealand this past Saturday. His left wing spot went to Matías Moroni who vacated the outside center position. This saw Jerónimo de la Fuente moving from inside center and Bautista Ezcurra starting at inside center.

Moroni joined Emiliano Boffelli, and Bautista Delguy in the back-three in Buenos Aires. Delguy was forced off after a knock to the head and will not face the Wallabies. Also hurt was Boffelli who would also take a heavy hit but will be fine to play this coming weekend.

The return of Moyano thereby sees a potential straight swap for the missing Delguy. The injury to Delguy will see him out of action for three weeks making the November Internationals his next possible test match appearance.

Also out is Tomás Lezana. He and Delguy have been replaced for the final round Rugby Championship match in Salta. Ledesma has called-up the uncapped Santiago Grondona in place of Lezana while Moyano and Manuel Montero both travel to Argentina’s north as wing options.

Manuel Montero joined the roster last week, doing so after 12 months absence. He decided to not play Super Rugby this year, instead playing club rugby for Pucará. He and Los Pumas 7’s star Matías Osadczuk were both in the training roster last week though the latter will travel to Uruguay to play for the Argentina XV in this month’s Americas Pacific Challenge.
