Argentina XV combine youth and experience for Americas Pacific Challenge

Named today the Argentina XV roster for the Americas Pacific Challenge combines experience and Pumitas. Coaches Ignacio Fernández Lobbe, and Diego Ternavasio have named a 30-man roster to train in Buenos Aires from August 27-29.

Following the training camp the final Argentina XV roster will be confirmed to travel to Montevideo where they will face Samoa ‘A’, Canada ‘A’, and the USA Select XV as part of the Americas Pacific Challenge.

The Americas Pacific Challenge will kick-off on Saturday October 06 and have additional match days on Wednesday October 10 and Sunday October 14.

The roster named includes notable alterations to that from prior Argentina XV squads. Included are Pumitas standouts Santiago Carreras, Leopoldo Herrera, and Santiago Grondona.

There is a call-up for 25-year-old winger Tomás McGaw from San Albano and a notable spot for Tucumán fly half Domingo Miotti. With Los Jaguares officially being without a fly half for 2019 Miotti is a leading candidate to be the starting 10 under Gonzalo Quesada.

Miotti is joined in the roster by another possibility for Los Jaguares’ at fly half – Martín Elías. The consistent flankers Mariano Romanini and Francisco Gorrissen make the roster. With veterans Juan Manuel Leguizamón and Leonardo Senatore out of favor both are well-placed to be Super Rugby rookies in 2019.
