Berchesi Extends at Dax, Huete Joins from Bayonne

Two South Americans have secured their playing future in France for the upcoming season. Uruguayan fly half Felipe Berchesi has Extended his stay at Dax and Chilean second-rower Pablo Huete is to Join from Bayonne.

The two new recruits are being joined by hooker Arnaud Heguy who is arriving from Biarritz. The trio join the French club for the upcoming Fédérale 1 season.

Dax is to play in the Fédérale 1 after being relegated from the Pro D2 last season. Berchesi and Huete were both regulars last season, the former for Dax and the latter for Bayonne.

With 29 caps to his name, Berchesi is on target to appear in a second RWC. He played against Wales, Australia, and England in RWC 2015, scoring 15 points.

Prior to the RWC he had played professional rugby in both Italy and France, doing so for Badia and Chambéry. Following the tournament in England and Wales, Berchesi joined Carcassonne in the Pro D2 where he went on to play at for two seasons. He then joined Dax in 2017 and has now signed on for an additional year.

The 29-year-old Huete is vastly experienced. He has been playing professional rugby since 2011. His first experience was in New Zealand playing for the Tasman Makos in the Mitre 10 Cup. In 2011-2012 he played for Castres and has since remained in France playing for Pau, Massy and Bayonne.

Huete move to Dax comes after three highly-productive seasons with Bayonne. On the international front Huete has 21 test caps for Los Cóndores.
