The Argentina XV crushed the Fiji Warriors today in the Nations Cup. The 75-15 victory saw the Argentina XV putting in the best performance of the year, and was vastly improved to that from Saturday against Emerging Italy.
At Carrasco Polo club in Montevideo today the Argentina XV ran in eleven tries. In doing so they are now firm favorites to win the Nations Cup title this year. Their remaining match is against Uruguay on Sunday.
Felipe Contepomi’s team was superb against the Fiji Warriors. In a genuine 80 minute effort, the Argentina XV dominated throughout. The game’s first try came in just the second minute. Touching down was Matías Moroni, a regular with Los Pumas but a player kept out of Super Rugby in 2018 due to injury.
Moroni was joined in the team by additional Jaguares. One was Manuel Montero who also scored while another was Juan Manuel Leguizamón, who celebrated his 35th birthday by captaining the side to a 60-point win.
Tries were also scored by Nicolás Solveyra, Gaspar Baldunciel, Gregorio del Prete, Joaquín Díaz Bonilla, Facundo Cordero, Tomás Jorge, Rodrigo Bruni, and Lucas Mensa who scored twice.
The first half saw the Argentina XV scoring four tries, giving them a 26-10 lead. In the second half the Fiji Warriors defense fell flat with the Argentina XV pushing them with seven tries.
