Pro D2 – Week 28 Preview

The Pro D2 continues. Week 28 of France’s second division is the third to last of the season. Places at both the top and bottom ends of the competition remain open. Looking to both win glory and to secure survival are players from the Americas. The following details those involved from the Western Hemisphere in Week 28.

The opening fixture is to be Dax vs Béziers. The match is the only Thursday game this weekend. Starting at fly half for the home side is Felipe Berchesi. Dax will be looking for a strong performance from the Uruguayan no 10 as the club desperately needs competition points. Argentine flanker Martín Chiappessoni will play as a replacement.

Six matches will take place on Friday. Two teams striving to be in the play-off’s meet in the form of Colomiers vs Biarritz. The home side have named former Pumas hooker Agustín Costa Repetto to start while Leandro Mario Assi will play Tight Head for Biarritz. The visitors are coached by former Puma Gonzalo Quesada.

Narbonne host Nevers in a match they are surprisingly entering as underdogs. Looking to end his time at Narbonne on a high is David Lameilau. The USA forward is to leave the club to play for the Utah Warriors in Major League Rugby.

Having turned around their fortunes in recent weeks Carcassonne are seeking another scalp. Their task is tough as they face the might of Grenoble on the road. Starting for them will be two Argentine players. Juan Cappiello will play at inside center while Demian Panizzo starts at lock.

Concluding Week 28 will be Bayonne at home to Mont de Marsan. The fixture will take place on Sunday and as such line-ups for the match will not be confirmed until Saturday afternoon local time.
