Uruguay Warm-Up for November by Defeating Rosario

Uruguay’s preparation to play two tests in Namibia in November is heading in the right direction. Los Teros warmed-up for the tour to Africa by defeating Rosario in an away match on Saturday. Taking place at GER, the home club of Leonardo Senatore, Uruguay ran-out 42-29 winners.

The fixture was Uruguay’s final run-out before the November Internationals. It started well for the home side with Rosario opening the scoring with a penalty from Santiago Araujo. But it was Los Teros who had the upper hand, controlling play for the majority of the match.

Tries to backs Andrés Vilaseca, Juan Manuel Cat and Federico Favaro gave Uruguay a 21-3 lead in the first half. Rosario managed to decrease the deficit with as Rodrigo Santiago scored an intercept try in the 33rd minute. But with a second try to Vilaseca and second-rower Ignacio Dotti also scoring Uruguay went 35-10 ahead.

In the second half Rosario started impressively. Scoring three tries in 18 minutes, they clawed their way back to be trailing 29-35. Uruguay were not helped by the yellow carding of second-rower Rodolfo Garese.

But with 15 minutes remaining Uruguay’s outstanding scrum-half, Santiago Arata scored for Los Teros to end the scoring, giving Uruguay a 42-29 victory.
