Pumas Dealt Lezana Blow

Los Pumas have been dealt an injury. One week out from the opening test match of 2017 it has been confirmed that Tomás Lezana will not be fit to face England. The Jaguares flanker was injured in training on Thursday and will not play in San Juan.

Argentina are to play two test matches against England this month. Taking place in San Juan and Santa Fé respectively the fixtures are to be on June 10 and 17. The loss of Lezana will require some reshuffling after he had been training to start at flanker.

Lezana had been training in combination with Juan Manuel Leguizamón and Leonardo Senatore in the back-row. Daniel Hourcade has additional options in the form of Rodrigo Báez, Benjamín Macome, Pablo Matera and Javier Ortega Desio.

Of them Báez and Matera have featured with the greatest regularity in Super Rugby this season. Macome is the back-up option to Senatore while Ortega Desio only had one match and it was as a replacement. Matera has been recuperating and may yet be ok to take to the field against England.
