Prop Returns to Jaguares from Europe

Argentine prop Felipe Arregui has confirmed his return home to Los Jaguares from Europe. Having joined Edinburgh on a short-term deal the 22-year-old is now to bolster the Loose Head prop options for Super Rugby.

Arregui linked up with Edinburgh as a medical joker in October. The move was green-lighted by the UAR. Importantly this meant he remained eligible to play for Los Pumas. Daniel Hourcade called him up in November to train in the U.K. but he did not receive game time.

The front-rower from Rosario is officially the fifth Jaguares roster member considered to be a Loose Head prop. The departure of Facundo Bosch to France, though has seen experimentation with Roberto Tejerizo now training at hooker.

Arregui joins Pumas Lucas Noguera Paz and Santiago García Botta to be the third choice option. The remaining player is Facundo Gigena who has been training at Tight Head prop. Indeed, he played in the position against Uruguay in a warm-up match  last month.

On his instagram account Arregui commented: “I am very happy with this experience. There has been a lot of learning and many other positives. Now I am focused on what is coming and I am going to keep growing. Thank you very much for everything Edinburgh rugby.”
