Americas Players in Top 14 – Week 11

The November Internationals go into full speed this weekend. Argentina, Canada, Chile, Uruguay and the USA are all playing test matches in Europe. All twenty teams from Rugby World Cup 2015 will be playing. Yet in France there will be a round of the Top 14.

Week 11 sees five matches played on Saturday and two on Sunday. First up will be Pau vs Racing 92. Pau is without Matt Tierney who will play for Canada vs Ireland on Saturday. His club will have Americas representation though. Starting in the back-row will be Steffon Armitage, a native of Trinidad & Tobago. Manuel Carizza will start for Racing 92. Juan Imhoff has been rested.

Both French-based Armitage brothers are to play. Delon Armitage will play fullback for Lyon, also on Saturday. Coming off the significant scalp of Toulon, Lyon now play away to Montpellier. Francisco Goméz Kodela and Agustín Figuerola are out of action.

Not playing against Romania on Saturday is Taku Ngwenya. John Mitchell has named Martin Iosefo and Blaine Scully as his starting wingers. Ngwenya is to, nonetheless, play. He has been named on the right wing for Brive who play away to Castres. The home side will be captained by Uruguayan Rodrigo Capó Ortega while Benjamín Urdapilleta will play fly half.

Chile’s lineup for South Korea is entirely home-based. The option was taken to invest in local players to have greater options for the Americas Rugby Championship. Pablo Huete and Ramón Ayarza are expected to play for their country. This weekend Huete will start for Bayonne vs Clermont.

Sunday’s two matches will see La Rochelle and Toulon at home to Toulouse and Stade Français respectively. Lineups for these matches will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
